US media: Intelligence shows Israel is preparing to attack Iran's nuclear facilities

Source: Xinhua News Agency

Xinhua Finance, Beijing, May 21. CNN reported on the 20th that new intelligence obtained by the United States shows that Israel is preparing to attack Iran's nuclear facilities.

The report said that it is not clear whether the Israeli side has made a final decision. The intelligence is based on public and private exchanges between senior Israeli officials, intercepted Israeli communications and observations of Israeli military operations, all of which indicate that Israel is about to launch an attack.

CNN reported that the U.S. observed military preparations include the transportation of air force ammunition and the completion of air exercises.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the possibility of Israel's attack on Iran's nuclear facilities "has rise significantly in recent months." The man also said that if the United States and Iran cannot reach an agreement on removing all of the latter's enriched uranium, the possibility of launching an attack would be greater.

Iran's supreme leader Khamenei said on the 20th that the United States' request for Iran to stop uranium enrichment is "excessive and shameless", and he expressed doubts about the success of the new nuclear agreement negotiations.

Iranian media reported on the 19th that if the United States insists on Iran's uranium enrichment, Iran's negotiations on the nuclear agreement will be "resulted" if the United States insists on Iran's uranium expansion.

Reuters reported on the 19th that it remains to be confirmed whether the fifth round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, originally scheduled to be held in Rome, the Italian capital, will be held as scheduled.

The United States and Iran held the first round of indirect negotiations in Muscat, the capital of Oman on April 12. This is the first formal negotiations with Iran after the United States unilaterally withdraws from the comprehensive agreement on Iran's nuclear issue signed in 2015 in 2018. Since then, the two sides have held three rounds of indirect negotiations on April 19, April 26 and May 11 respectively.
