Multiple U.S. aircraft carriers and combat ships have arrived in the Middle East! Trump: Plans to talk to Iran,

# CCTV News

Trump said he has made contact with Iran and plans to continue dialogue, while threatening military action again to urge Iran to accept the terms of the agreement. He stated that the US has deployed a "very powerful and large-scale naval force" towards Iran, adding that "it would be a good thing if these forces do not have to be used". Earlier, a US aircraft carrier, three littoral combat ships and six destroyers have arrived in the Middle East. Iran said it will resolutely counterattack if a war is provoked.

According to the latest report from CCTV News, on January 29 local time, US President Trump told the media at the Kennedy Center that he plans to hold talks with Iran amid escalating tensions.

Trump stated that he has made contact with Iran and intends to continue the dialogue, while once again threatening military action to press Iran to accept the terms of the agreement.

In response to a reporter's question, Trump said, "I have had (the talks), and I plan to continue." He also noted that the US has deployed a "very powerful and large-scale naval force" to the Iran region, saying, "It would be a good thing if we don't have to use these forces."

Trump did not disclose the specific interlocutors, but clearly stated that two demands have been conveyed to Iran: first, not to possess nuclear weapons; second, to stop suppressing and killing protesters. He claimed that Iran "must change".

## A US Aircraft Carrier, Three Littoral Combat Ships and Six Destroyers Arrive in the Middle East

According to an earlier report by CCTV News on the same day, a US official said on the 29th local time that the US Navy destroyer USS Delbert D. Black has arrived in the Middle East. So far, the US has deployed at least ten warships in the Middle East, including six destroyers, one aircraft carrier and three littoral combat ships.

It is reported that destroyers can not only cooperate with aircraft carriers to conduct land strike missions, but also defend against missile and drone attacks. The land strike capability of littoral combat ships can cover a wide range from the coastline to the inland depth.

## Iran to Hold Live-Fire Military Drills in the Strait of Hormuz

In response to the continuous US pressure, on the 29th local time, Iran issued a notice to passing ships via VHF radio, announcing that it will hold military drills in the Strait of Hormuz from February 1 to 2, including live-fire shooting.

It is learned that the drills may have an impact on shipping activities passing through the Strait of Hormuz. At present, Iranian officials have not made public the specific scale and arrangements of the drills.

In addition, Iran said on the same day that the municipal government of the capital Tehran has also launched a construction plan for wartime shelter facilities, including transforming underground parking lots into dual-purpose spaces for "parking in peacetime and shelter in wartime".

## Iran: Will Not Take the Initiative to Provoke a War, Will Resolutely Counterattack if Invaded

On the 29th local time, Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, when talking about the regional situation, said that the current government has maintained a state of combat readiness since taking office. Iran will not take the initiative to provoke a war, and if a war is provoked, it will defend itself with a firm stance, and "the outcome of the war will not be decided by the enemy".

Aref emphasized that preparations must be made for a state of war at present. Iran adheres to not launching a war first, but if invaded, it will resolutely counterattack and ensure that the course of the war is not dominated by the enemy. He pointed out that Iran advocates dialogue and rationality, but if a conflict breaks out, its outcome will no longer be in the hands of the opponent.

When talking about the issue of negotiations, Aref said that Iran has made it clear that it is willing to conduct dialogue, but this time it must have "authentic and reliable guarantees". He mentioned that the US launched an attack on Iran during the previous round of negotiations, which made Iran question the other party's sincerity. Aref stressed that Iran will only participate in negotiations when it is confirmed that the other party is seeking genuine negotiations, rather than creating a cover for larger actions.
