## Trump Threatens Iran’s New Leader “Won’t Last Long”
WASHINGTON, March 8 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump threatened on March 8 that Iran’s new leader, if not recognized by him, “won’t last long.”
In an interview with ABC News, Trump stated that Iran’s newly appointed leader “must be approved by us” or “he won’t last long.”
Trump also said he could accept figures linked to Iran’s “old regime” as the country’s new leader, noting that “many people could qualify.”
He added that he has not ruled out sending special forces to seize Iran’s enriched uranium, saying “all options are on the table.” When pressed on how long a war might last, he declined to predict, though he recently said it could take four to five weeks.
On March 5, Trump claimed he “must be personally involved” in selecting Iran’s next leader and vowed not to accept a son of the late Supreme Leader Khamenei. He warned that if Iran installs a new leader who “continues Khamenei’s policies,” it would force the U.S. to “return to war within five years.”
Iran’s Mehr News Agency reported on March 8, citing informed sources, that the new Supreme Leader has been finalized, and Hosseini Bushehri, head of the Assembly of Experts Secretariat, will make the official announcement.
