# Another Internet Giant to Launch a Stablecoin

On September 25, Cloudflare, a U.S. internet infrastructure giant, announced its plan to launch the U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin **NET Dollar** (where "NET" is the ticker symbol of Cloudflare, a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange).  

## Who is Cloudflare?  

According to public information, Cloudflare is a U.S.-based multinational technology company that provides content delivery network (CDN), cybersecurity, DNS services, and other internet infrastructure solutions. Through its global edge network, it offers accelerated access, enhanced performance, and strengthened security for millions of websites and applications to fend off cyberattacks, helping clients build a more secure internet.  

Virtually every internet service relies on Cloudflare. For instance, the service that requires you to verify you are a human before proceeding when logging into a website is mostly provided by Cloudflare.  

Cloudflare states that **NET Dollar** is a new U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin designed to provide instant, secure transaction support for the **agentic web** (AI agent-driven web). NET Dollar will help the internet establish a new business model—one that rewards originality, sustains creativity, and empowers innovation in an AI-driven world.  

## NET Dollar Targets AI Agents  

Cloudflare notes that AI is fundamentally transforming how humans interact with the web. Instead of manually controlling every interaction, humans are beginning to delegate tasks to autonomous AI agents—such as booking flights, ordering groceries, and managing calendars. For this to work, the underlying financial system also needs to evolve. The AI-driven internet requires a currency that is instant, global, and secure, enabling AI agents, developers, and creators to conduct transactions instantly, automatically, and reliably.

NET Dollar will have **5 core features**:  

1. **Agent Commerce**: Built specifically for the rise of agents and machines, enabling seamless automated transactions without human intervention.  

2. **Real-Time Settlement**: The emergence of autonomous agents and connected devices is creating a new economic paradigm. These systems require a reliable medium of exchange capable of processing high-frequency automated transactions without human involvement.  

3. **Programmability**: Rules, triggers, and workflows can be directly embedded into payments, making them smarter and more adaptable.  

4. **Global Reach and Interoperability**: NET Dollar will operate across networks and ecosystems, enabling frictionless global trade.  

5. **1:1 U.S. Dollar Backing**: Each token will be fully collateralized by U.S. dollars, ensuring transparency, reliability, and price stability.  

### Use Cases of NET Dollar for Agent Payments  

- **Simplifying Payments Anywhere in the World**: Agents need systems that are not only fast and secure but also trustworthy, with transparent records, and capable of reliably executing payments globally—across currencies, regions, and time zones.
