The UK plans to set up a “digital market director” to promote on-chain wholesale markets
PANews reported on October 9 that according to Bloomberg, the British Treasury will establish a "Digital Markets Champion" (digital market director) to coordinate and promote the digitization (Tokenization) of asset issuance, trading and settlement of wholesale financial markets based on blockchain. Lucy Rigby, Economic Affairs Secretary at the Treasury, said that a "Dematerialisation Market Action Taskforce" will be established to oversee the transition from paper share certificates to electronic ones. The government has released the "Wholesale Financial Markets Digital Strategy" to promote the use of blockchain and artificial intelligence, and launched a "Digital Gilt Debt" (DIGIT) tender to invite technology providers to participate in the issuance of British government bonds on the blockchain.
