India’s financial summit this week bans discussion of cryptocurrencies, with supervision focusing on central bank digital currencies and tokenization pilots

Foresight News, according to Reuters, India is holding Global Fintech Fest, a global financial summit in Mumbai this week. A document containing speaker guidelines reads, "Please avoid making political, cryptocurrency, religious or personal remarks on stage or in the venue." The organizers of the event, the Indian Payments Council, the National Payments Corporation of India and the Fintech Convergence Council, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Instead, regulators focused on India’s central bank’s digital currency, the e-rupee, and the Reserve Bank of India launched a deposit tokenization pilot and a fintech sandbox.
