New York City Mayor Eric Adams establishes the nation’s first mayoral Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain
According to Foresight News, according to The Block, New York City Mayor Eric Adams signed an executive order to establish the first mayoral digital asset and blockchain office in the United States. The new office will encourage the responsible use of digital assets and blockchain technology and will be led by Moises Rendon, who has been working in the digital assets space in New York City for more than a year. The office is dedicated to coordinating cooperation between the cryptocurrency industry and the government, working with federal and state governments to promote policies and attract blockchain and cryptocurrency projects that are compliant and can create value. At the same time, the office will focus on attracting talent to ensure New York City remains competitive in financial innovation. Adams has been supportive of cryptocurrencies during his time in office, receiving his salary in Bitcoin and hosting cryptocurrency summits, but his term will end at the end of the year and he announced his withdrawal from the race last month due to issues such as campaign finance.
