African payments giant Flutterwave will integrate Polygon’s blockchain technology to speed up cross-border payments and reduce costs
According to Foresight News, Flutterwave, Africa’s $31 billion payment service provider, will integrate Polygon’s blockchain technology to speed up cross-border payments and reduce costs. This collaboration will embed the Polygon (POL) network into Flutterwave’s new stablecoin-based payment system as its default underlying architecture. The pilot phase will begin this year, first for businesses, and expand to consumer remittances in 2026.
Flutterwave said cross-border payments are currently slow and costly in many African countries, with average fees exceeding 8%. Businesses that wait several days to receive payment risk losing working capital or missing out on growth opportunities.
