Leung Ting-bang, former chairman of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission: The combination of asset tokenization and central bank digital currency can reshape the market

According to Foresight News, according to 21st Century Business Herald, former Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission, Liang Dingbang, said in an exclusive interview that Nasdaq in the United States has begun experimenting with tokenized stock transactions and using stable currencies (such as USDC) for settlement. Tokens are not a new concept. Stocks are essentially tokens. If stocks are turned into digital tokens on the blockchain, all operations can be completed in one system and instant settlement can be achieved. Through the combination of asset tokenization and central bank digital currencies, the way the entire market operates can be reshaped. To establish such a new capital market based on asset tokenization, Hong Kong needs to overcome three challenges: technical infrastructure, regulatory framework and market acceptance.
