People familiar with the matter: Brazil considering tax on international payments using cryptocurrencies
Foresight News reported that Brazil is considering taxing international payments using cryptocurrencies, Reuters reported, citing two officials familiar with the matter. The country’s Finance Ministry is considering expanding the scope of the financial transaction tax to some cross-border transfers using virtual assets and stablecoins, which have been classified as foreign exchange transactions by the country’s central bank, a person familiar with the matter said. Brazil's Finance Ministry declined to comment to Reuters for this story.
