Trump threatens again: to attack Iranian bridges and power plants; Iran again claims to have shot down a US F35 fighter jet

# CCTV News & CCTV International

On April 2, U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on Iran’s iconic bridge killed and wounded hundreds; Trump threatened to keep targeting Iranian bridges and power plants for pressure, while Iran’s foreign minister condemned the acts, saying they cannot force Iran to surrender. On April 3, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had successfully shot down a second U.S. F-35 fighter jet.

On the evening of April 2 local time, U.S. President Trump stated on social media that U.S. forces “have not even begun to destroy what remains of Iran” and would next target Iranian bridges and power plants.

## U.S.-Israeli Strike on Iranian Bridge Kills, Wounds Hundreds

On April 2 local time, the **Bayik Highway Bridge** in Karaj, Iran—hailed as the Middle East’s tallest bridge and an Iranian landmark—was damaged in a joint U.S.-Israeli attack.

Known as a flagship project of Iran’s engineering sector and one of the world’s most complex engineering feats, the bridge forms a critical part of the Tehran-Karaj transportation corridor and was scheduled to officially open in the near future.

According to Iranian media, the airstrike killed **8 civilians** and injured **95 others**. The main structure of the bridge was severely damaged, and the affected road section has been fully closed. Local authorities issued an emergency warning, urging residents to avoid the area. The attack also caused power outages in parts of Karaj.

Shortly after the strike, U.S. President Trump posted a video on social media, claiming the airstrike destroyed Iran’s “largest bridge” as a means to pressure Iran into “reaching an agreement” with the United States.

In response, Iranian Foreign Minister **Seyed Abbas Araghchi** said destroying civilian infrastructure would not force Iran to surrender. Such acts, he stressed, only reveal the failure and collapsing morale of “the enemy in disarray.” He emphasized that every destroyed bridge and building would be rebuilt “even stronger,” and that the irreversible damage to “America’s standing” is a fait accompli.
