According to *Decrypt*, hackers are targeting an old Bitcoin address (starting with 1FeexV) containing over $8 billion in digital currency stolen from the defunct Mt.Gox exchange. *BitMEX Research* revealed that attackers sent a transaction to this address via Bitcoin’s **OP_RETURN** function, embedding a phishing link. While **OP_RETURN** can store data on the blockchain, it was exploited here to trick the owner into visiting a fake page. The site falsely claimed the wallet was "lost or abandoned" and impersonated the now-defunct Wall Street firm **Salomon Brothers** to steal personal information. BitMEX warned on **X** that this site is fraudulent and part of a Bitcoin scam, noting that multiple old addresses from **2011** have become similar targets.
