Trump administration in talks to take stake in quantum computing company

PANews reported on October 23 that the Wall Street Journal reported that the administration of U.S. President Trump is discussing investing in quantum computing companies. IonQ, Rigetti Computing, D-Wave Quantum and others are discussing exchanging equity for federal funds with the U.S. Department of Commerce, with Deputy Commerce Secretary Paul Dabbar leading the negotiations. The plan may make the government become a shareholder of quantum computing companies, and funds will be directed to "key technology" companies. Quantum Computing Inc. and Atom Computing are also considering similar arrangements.
