Venezuela’s Acting President Says He Invites the United States to Participate in Formulating a Cooperation Agenda

# CCTV News
Venezuela's Acting President Delcy Rodríguez sent a letter to the United States on January 4, reaffirming her commitment to peaceful coexistence and emphasizing the establishment of international relations based on sovereign equality and non-interference. The letter invited the U.S. to jointly formulate a cooperation agenda and called for peace and dialogue instead of war. The move came after the U.S. launched a military operation against Venezuela in the early hours of January 3, raiding the capital, forcibly detaining President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, and transferring them out of the country—an act that has drawn strong condemnation from multiple nations.
On January 4 local time, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil released the letter from Acting President Rodríguez addressed to the world and the United States.
In the letter, Venezuela reaffirmed its belief in pursuing peace and peaceful coexistence, expressing its aspiration to live free from external threats in an environment of international respect and cooperation. The country holds that building global peace must first and foremost guarantee the peace of every individual nation.
Venezuela deems it a top priority to promote the establishment of balanced, respectful international relations between the U.S. and Venezuela, as well as between Venezuela and other countries in the region, anchored in the principles of sovereign equality and non-interference. These principles have guided Venezuela’s diplomatic ties with the rest of the world.
The letter stated that the Venezuelan government invites the U.S. government to jointly develop a cooperation agenda oriented toward mutual development, and to strengthen enduring community coexistence within the framework of international law.
In the letter, the Venezuelan side conveyed to U.S. President Donald Trump that the Venezuelan people and the region deserve peace and dialogue, not war. This has always been President Maduro’s stance, and Venezuela has the right to peace, development, sovereignty, and a future.
In the early hours of January 3, the U.S. launched a large-scale military operation against Venezuela, storming the capital Caracas, dispatching troops to forcibly detain President Maduro and his wife, and transferring them out of the country. The move has been met with strong condemnation from Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Russia and several other nations.
